Transvestite Geography
Transvestite Geography is about a lot of things. Queer spaces in the last days of old Portland, using computers to draw silly ASCII maps, but mostly it's about the weird way being a trans woman could show up in that strange interregnum between gay liberation and the modern trans right movement.

Details of Lost Time
In the mid-1990s and early 2000s, I traveled the Northeastern United States attending concerts with friends I had made online. A variety of different artists, styles, and scenes, but by and large the performer I saw most was Ani DiFranco. These were my earliest encounters with queer woman and the memories have lived in my head for decades. Details of Lost Time was my attempt to get them on a page before they fade.

Letting Go
I wrote the first of these poems (ten years) in October of 2023 and the last of them in the first week of April of 2024 (again). This time period also marked the start of my second year of HRT and my partner of eight years leaving the house three months after I had ended things.
The next six months were a whirlwind of feelings fully expressed -- more fully and honestly than I ever had in my life. More rawly than I had since I was a teenager. These nineteen poems capture and chart those feelings as best I knew how, and the writing of these poems was therapy for the events they reference.
One aspect of starting all this in middle age is that after decades of living a shadow life and absorbing everything I could about transition -- I knew all the cliches. Knew the lessons everyone else learned. Knew every pitfall of the heart to come, and yet, I still needed to do it all.
Knowing and feeling are different things. A heart in the harbor is safe but that's not what hearts are for.

Fucking Cis Men
Before there was an internet there were still trans women. Those trans women had needs and wants even if those needs and wants didn't have easy to access names. Fulfilling those needs and wants presented distorting challenges. Fucking Cis Men: stunted trans desire in the waning days of generation x is one woman's story of navigating the world of queer sex in the 1990s and 2000s in New York State's rust belt, and making peace with those years.
