Spirits, Hungover At Work from @francesallthetime
An eight-page comic about a woman having a conversation with her pre-transition drag persona, whom she can only see when hungover, who is giving her shit about her Grindr infatuation and pondering what it means to be manifested by another being.
This book made me smile -- in the days when I called myself a transvestite one of the stories I would tell was that drag was casting a spell to bring forth your anima and by perfecting this art I had transcended gender.
These days? Your own gender is not so easily banished or transcended and it's something to ignore at your own peril. If there's magic to it -- gender is a spell that civilizations cast on their young, and the spell takes the same way for a lot of babies but the rest of us end up having a more complex (and hopefully fun) time with it.
