what are your thanksgiving plans?
Some friends from my old job might be throwing an orphans thanksgiving. If that ends up happening I'll probably go. Afterwards I'll go to a movie. I dislike large Holidays. They usually trigger my latent depression (kind of like the hulk) and the last thing I want to do is be around people. This makes November and December my least favorite time of the year.
Your site is only popular because of Ani - shouldn't you now move your domain and exist without the hits from 'Ani' typed into search engines?
Possible responses to this "question"
1. I can't control who or what page links to me. If a search engine still thinks this page is a relevant source of Ani DiFranco information, so be it.
2. As a former webmaster of an Ani DiFranco site during her most creative and relevant period of work, this site
still is a relevant source of Ani DiFranco information, albeit hard to extract.
3. Well, it's a moot point since RIT finally took down my long inaccessible webserver space. The Ani page redirecting you to this server from my RIT pages came up number eight on google. You have to dig down to the third page of search results to get a link to gliff.org.
4. Shouldn't Ani DiFranco move her domain since it comes up in searches for folk singer, political musician and the like?
5. This site is popular?
6. Shut up, dumbfuck.
Have you ever taken a MENSA test (or equivalent)?? If so, what did you score?
Never taken one as an adult. I know at some point in my childhood I did have an IQ test, but don't remember what the score was (if I was told at all).
Would you like some cornflakes? If this question seems at all random just ask my sister Ms SUnglasses about it.
Cornflakes are OK. A naked bobby would be better.
What's Ima up to these days?
She's discovered two new games. "Lets see how much wet dirt I can get out of Alan's new plants" and "Chomp the fern".
whoa. congratulations on your crush. i think it's nice.
and what if you were to find that you still had a crush on a person several years after the two of you were married? (it's not impossible, you know). turning thirty gave me permission to get in touch with my inner cheeseball, as you can see.
Well, I'd say you must have a great dealer (-:
Are you voting on Tuesday? Any general thoughts? Also if you don't watch Daily Show, I encourage you to go to their Web site on Comedy Central and get the "SchoolHouse Rock" type video that is a spoof of Midterm elections and watch it online. Priceless.
Yes, I'll be voting. Stanley Aronowitz for governor, Slaughter for congress, then Greens over Democrats for everything else.
You said this:
"In pop culture news, I've decided that much of my disdain for the state of pop music comes from living in a city that no decent performers come to anymore. Rochester has never been a first rate tour stop, but in the past we always got a few good gigs in the fall and spring. I suspect this has something to do with Clear Channel (cc) taking over most of the promoters in town."
Well, you know, Ani's coming to Rochester on 11/20 so you could check out her show. She's playing solo. Maybe you could go if you've got nothing to do or are bored. Or you could go for old times sake. Or to see if you ani really is as bad as you think she is these days. How does that sound?
Thirty bucks to listen to an old lady complain that love sucks while being surround by people who think feminism means a woman gets to choose
how she sucks a man's dick? No thank you.
boxers or briefs?
Boxers.
Ever been dumpster diving? If so, what was your best find?
Nope, never been. I do keep keep an eye on the local trash piles at the end of the month. People moving often decide they don't want still useful things like lamps, desks and the like. My funniest find in that context was a box filled with about three years of Playboy magazines. I saw them as i was walking to the convience store, and on my way back they were gone.
/rant on
Okay, enough is enough. Why do you people care what the hell Alan thinks of Ani? He supported her, things changed, he doesn't. I *really* do not get the point of all this concern with Ani....at least I don't get it in this forum. If you are still in love with (or believe in) the images Ani portrays go support her! Empathize with her! Spread around bootleg copies of her concerts for additional noteriety and fame especially West of the Mississippi where no one knows who she is (middle regions of California and all of Washington state excluded). Better yet, get to know her intimate details and find a site ABOUT ANI and argue/discuss it there - in the proper forum. Not here.
/rant continues...
Um, do you really think you can make a difference by attacking? Does "asking someone a simple question poorly disguised as the brilliance of the literati in a condescending and threatening manner" EVER make someone have an epiphany of conscience? Ok, after high school, does it ever work after high school? Add in there that you do not even know this person to whom you speak...while maybe this form of questioning is an acceptable evening's entertainment amongst friends, but amongst strangers? Nay, I think not.
(See? It didn't work for me either.....now shoo!)
The older I get the less I find people are still thiking...for themselves...and feeling out of the box.
Regardless of my agreement or lack thereof, I thank you Alan for thinking, and feeling out of the box.
/rant off
*ahem*
My question for Alan is:
What makes you feel content? Not bouncy happy, or ecstatic, just content. And no cheating with "I am still looking..." replies, just jot down your first thought...or five!
Large bodies of water.
What's the furthest you've ever been away from home? The longest?
Furthest was my trip to San Jose California (home being Rochester). Longest, excluding the duel-home time of college would be a week.
Why do you think that people care so much about what, or rather, what you are not listening to at the moment? I mean, with all do respect, it's not like you are the beginning and end of music tastes. Some of these people act as though you have committed some horrific crime, and I just don't understand why.
Because for most young (and old) Americans pop culture is the only religion they have.
?
!
do you enjoy talking down to others or is it, instead, a feeling of duty obligation towards those you consider to be less intellectually gifted that requires ou to explain yourself in such a pedantic manner
I only talk down to people when they've refused to take several obvious hints and can't be bothered to read available information. The only enjoyment I get is a temporary in the moment thrill of knowing I'm smarter than you.
Are you as sick as I am of the Ani fans who keep asking you bio questions? Also, are you as annoyed as I am at the amazing lack of resistance to Bush's Iraq policy/plan? Would love to hear your comments on this.
Yes.
Yes. Annoyed doesn't begin to cover my emotional response to the warmongering in this country. However, the lack of resistance isn't amazing. The only lessons learned from Vietnam were control the press and don't draft Americans.
how many piercings and/or tattoos do you have?(and where are they?)
Zero and Zero. They're on my pansy ass :)
some people try too hard.
A critical philosophy does not
begin and end with standpoint
theory. Do you agree?
I don't know anything about "standpoint theory" so I can't say.
what is your favorite thing about yourself?
There's too many to choose!
Let me get this straight. You hate Ani for being a sell-out, but you are currently listening to *Moby*?! Don't you think it's strange how Mr."Everything is Wrong" goes from legitimate culture jammer to licensing every single track from Play, and appearing in Calvin Klein ads. So we have Ani who goes from idealist to sellout, and we have Moby who does the same thing. Yet Ani gets roasted and Moby's still cool. You don't see a double standard here?
People, shut the fuck up. Where have i used the oh-so-tired phrase "Sell Out" in regards to Mrs. Gilchrist? However, since you brought it up, here are a few reasons Moby is preferable to Ani DiFranco
- The Area festivals
- Moby's more up front about his song licensing and commercial dealings.
- Moby's more accessible to his fans
- Moby has a sense of humor about himself
- Moby has better produced CDs
- Moby's current music is a-political, meaning his personal politics become less important
- Moby's current music isn't riddled with the same verbal ticks he developed five years ago
There's a few reason why Ani scored higher than Moby on the tool-meter.
What are some clothes that you feel completely comfortable in?
Blue Jeans 1/2 size too large and an XL button down shirt
do you still consider yourself to be a feminist? do you think that's something of a contradiction in terms (a male feminist)? if not, what is the definition of a male feminist and what, if any, are the special responsibilities that feminist males have towards womankind?
I could go on forever about this, but I don't have time. So remember that brevity often leaves out a lot of the important details.
Yes.
No.
A male who believes that every human being should have an equal opportunity to pursue their life/dreams and who recognizes that women have been universally across cultures and recorded history been denied this right more than men have.
Learn to deal with public hair. Get over it guys.
Diners or restaurants? Which ones?
Do I have to choose?
Would you agree that Guided by Voices is Alan's favorite band? If not then it should be Wilco, dig?
I'm not that familiar with Guided by Voices and most of what I know about Wilco comes from the Billy Bragg/Woody Guthrie stuff, which is only a small portion of their repertoire.
do you have grey eyes?
Nope. Blue with Hazel starbursts, usually obscured by my glasses.
Alan, have you ever been to Disney World? Do you think it's the happiest place on earth?
Yes I have, as a child and adolescent. While Disney World is capable of making people very happy, it also plays host to many neurotic families on vacation who counteract that happiness. Where the equation finally balances out, nobody knows.
It's funny you mention it, I've been having fantasies about going back and seeing what kind of memories I can dredge up from my very mixed childhood.
Do you realize that you contradict yourself when you talk about Ani? If you really listened to Revelling/Reckoning you would know the songs "Subdivision" and "Your Next Bold Move"
OK, I promised myself no more responding to dumb ass Ani fans, but I've gotten more than one question like this. Be warned, I'm going to be mean and far harsher than I ever am in person.
Does your 5th grade teacher know how horribly you failed your reading comprehension exams? Let me walk you through it.
Alan has listened to Revelling/Reckoning several times.
No song jumps out at Alan, or grows on Alan. This includes your precious Subdivision and Your Next Bold Move. Alan, having better things to do than listen to Ani (like get his teeth drilled), stops listening to R&R and returns it to the library.
Since no song jumped out at Alan, Alan quickly forgets whatever little he remembers about the CD (except the lyrically horrible Heart Break Even, which got heavy rotation on WBER and has bored it's way into my skull). Once again, this includes your two favorite songs.
Make sense? If not please drop out of whatever community college liberal arts associates degree program you're in and retake a few years of grade school reading.
Favourite non-alcoholic beverage?
Pure clean water. Or coffee.
Have you ever shaved a part of your body other than your face and neck?
Yes :)
How far can your scrotum stretch away from your body?
Good lord, I wouldn't even know how to measure that. Besides, do men really need
yet another measurement to feel inadequate about?
dude how gay
About a 2.7 on the horribly outdated Kinsey Scale.
Where do you keep your pronography stash, and how much / what types of pr0n do you have in it?
I don't have a pornography stash. I find most pornography degrading, and most of the rest insulting. Before I had my porn "moment of clarity" I got it from the Internet. I'll occasionally view erotica photography, but again, it's gotten from the internet.
have you ever masturbated while thinking about me?
No, I think about me when I masturbate.
Alan, just logged on through the old Ani Site and I am curious as to who you are.... that is - what's your story mate?
I have no story.
Have you ever thought of leaving all the shit behind and escaping to Tropical North Queensland? We love cynical bastards here - you'd love it!
Austrailia & New Zealand have been two considered destinations, but only if Terrance Stamp will go mountain climbing with me.
Alan, will you MC our next roast?
No.
What's your favourite food?
Right now, eggplant. Love that eggplant, even after my childhood Kid
Icarus experiences. Next month it'll be something else, but right now it's
the big purple blob.
Do you ever wish you had a menial job like mailroom clerk? Sometimes I just
wish I didn't have to deal with the crap I deal with and wish I just sorted
mail. What is wrong with me?
Not anymore.
Alan, why is it that you are so bitter towards Ani? She is such a strong
independent woman and a wonderful role model. She has stayed true to her
beliefs through and through. I just don't understand all the hostility
people hold towards her. Got over it and move on if you can't see what a
beautiful person she is.
If I have any 'bitterness' towards Ani DiFranco Inc., it's because people
like you continue to believe the "wonderful role model independent woman
image" that Scot Fisher and RBR have cultivated for Ani. It's made up and
if it was ever true it's not anymore. I can't state that more clearly and
clinically than I just have.
I think the real question is why are people like you so obsessed with what
I think about Ani DiFranco.
If I *do* come back to Rochester can I be your case study to go into Compass Care and see what they are up to? :o)
Only if I don't dress up first (-;
If you haven't given any of Ani's latest stuff a chance, why are you judging her? The second disc of R/R is some of Ani's most intelligent, mature, intellectual, and political work. And her new song "Serpentine" which will be on a future album is amazing. You might like it if you listened to it and gave it a shot. You may even find that its much like the "old Ani" you used to like, in terms of the sound AND what she talks about. Lastly, I think its sad that you hadn't even gotten to the end of "Self Evident" before you judged it.
Who said I didn't give it a chance? I downloaded R&R and listened to it for a week. Didn't like it. Even more recently I borrowed it from the library just to make sure. Still sucks.
So,
You actually liked Little Plastic Castles???? I really thought that was where the shit throwing began.
After Dilate...the last really good album. Jeez
No, I found LPC rather odious.
As for some of Ani DiFranco's newer songs- such as "Subdivision" or "Your Next Bold Move" or her poem about the World Trade Center, "Self Evident"- do you find those lyrics trite? Just curious.
I don't know Subdivion or Your Next Bold Move, and if that WTC poem is the same thing they posted on the RBR web site a while back I didn't get more than four lines in. She's still not the folk singer of me
what have you been doing between your 23 and now (27)??
Finishing school, debating a move across the country, paying off debt, slowly loosing interest in pop music, discovering Michael Franti too late, deciding if I was ready to settle down ... Too much thinking, it seems.
does your air conditioning make noises at night?
Hehehehe, air conditioning? In my apartment? HAHAHA! Sometimes my ceiling fans rattle.
You'd have to be the first person of the male sex I've ever come across concerned with feminist issues. Why? Why is it you take such an interest? Secondly, when it comes down to music, I'm a strong believer in that if I like the music it's independent, or not so independent, status has nothing to do with it's listenable qualities. Why is it you place such high importance on such trivial matters as to whether or not artists have "sold out" before you feel their music is worth a listen? Isn't there already enough to worry about in this day and age? [ed. note: this last question can be translated as "If you don't listen to Ani DiFranco, the terrorists have already won"]
Firstly, your secondly. I listen to and enjoy a great deal of music where the musicians and entertainers involved are complete tools. If, (a rhetorical if), you're talking about Mrs. Gilchrist, she hasn't put out a CD that's held up musically since 1997. So, being neither musically interesting nor politically relevant, I don't listen.
As for your first question (why haven't you met more feminists with a y chromosome) I can't say. Perhaps your disinterest in people's personal politics leads you towards other people who aren't interested in having personal politics.
not so much a question -
I found your site through the old Ani site, and I have to say after reviewing both (which tells me that I have way to much time on my hands) I am left with the same eerie feeling I felt after the first viewing of Requiem for a Dream. I am compelled to tell you that I am very sorry that you feel as though so many have let you down. Disappointment is a hard emotion to live with. I hope that things begin to look up for you and that perhaps in the future you may find a ray of happiness.
Is there a question in there? It's been three years since I decided Mrs. Gilchrist was a tool, and except for the three monthly "You suck" emails and the occasional rolling of the eyes at her latest product (Double CD followed by a DVD followed by another double CD) it doesn't affect me.
She's a poster girl with
sixteen posters.
Happy Birthday! Do you have any interesting plans or goals for the year ahead of you?
Be out of credit card debt by my next birthday, and produce a photo zine.
Does this still work?
Yes it does. People just don't ask that many questions anymore.
"but, I always kept my heart back lest I interfere with someone's life again." Do you think that you are an interference in other people's lives? You're my favorite show, one of the few I am able to receive through all the static. why is it tourist season if we can't shoot at them?
I think traditional romantic and sexual relationships invariably intertwine two people, which is great for the storybooks but bad for folks trying to find themselves.
I think I'm in love with you.
Jessica Simpson is stalking me!!!
Have you ever taken a Keirsey Temperament Sorter Test? I bet you are like me, a Mastermind (INTJ) - info here. http://www.typelogic.com/intj.html
Nope, never taken one.
Would you consider living in the Big Brother house? I think you have the skills to win.
God no. I don't think I could live with that many people without popping a gasket of some kind. Although, living rent free for a few months is a prize in and of itself.
How much longer do you think you'll keep gliff.org up and running?
I've no plans to take it down anytime soon. I also won't be moving everything to a different domain, which seems to be a popular move. Even after I pay off my debts I still want to keep up on web related things in case I ever need to reenter the field.
how does one resist closing themselves off to other people and the rest of the world as one gets older? it just seems like it gets harder and harder to make connections. it's the reason why tv is so popular, y'know? (Because you can always hang out with the tv: watch the simpsons, watch survivor, watch those corny dating shows and experience other people making fools out of themselves for sex and romance as you sit idly by on the couch eating cheetos and picking your toes.)
You're asking
me? Well, the first thing I'd do is cancel the cable and bury the TV in your closet under mountains of stuff. Force yourself to do something else other than watch TV. My days feel busy enough as it is, I don't know how I ever found the time to squeeze in hours of TV watching.
What's the best thing about summer?
Sitting near the edge of a pond and dipping your feet in the water.
I came across your site because of your former Ani page. My fortune! I am curious, though: what has caused the disdain toward Ani?
Without getting into the messy details; Her lyrics became trite, her music became shite and once she made her money she became a prick rock star.
What's your eyeglass/contact lens prescription?
do you like the mountain goats?(the one man band that is john darnielle, not the shaggy animal with horns)
I haven't had enough contract with either to form a valid opinion.
who is alan?
A young man about to turn twenty seven (July 2002) who decided he'd continue to ponder the universe as an adult.
Do you have any siblings?
One brother (23), one sister (18).
what do you drink at the bar?
Whatever others are drinking, typically Bass Ale. When I'm feeling independent, I pick something Dark. When I'm in the mood for a cocktail it's Jack and Coke. When I'm forced into a bottle only place with limited selection it's corona. Margaritas wreck me so I'm a fun tex-mex date.
how can i get closer and be further away?
Biographical questions only. I don't have the answers to the universe.
Do you think you'll get another dog if the situation permits?
Another dog? *looks around apartment*
Ima's pretty pissed and she's coming for you. (I have no dogs, and one cat)
Who is Deep Throat?
Not me, that's for sure. I haven't given anyone head in a long time and I never completely got rid of my gag reflex in the first place.
Given the ideas regarding video games you posted on the 15th... Where do you think movies fit into the equation? Do you have any thoughts on video game/movie convergence? After all, we're not talking about guys who sit around and play Pong all day...
Movies have a set time and are something that groups of people can simultaneously enjoy. Video games are an endless time suck that only the main players can ever fully enjoy. A breeding ground for anti-social behavior. The massive multiplayer online persistent universe games do allow for (theoretically) unlimited participants, but that means large groups of people become zombies instead of just your boyfriend.
As for the convergence of movies and video games, I think if things continue the way they are it's going to be the undoing of the industry. Game companies are trying too hard to turn their games into movies. It's killing game play and raising production costs tremendously.
Take one of the more recent movie/games released, Metal Gear Solid II. More than two years in production and over 70 programmers for uneven results. The game engine itself was incredible, but the innovative use of that engine (particularly towards the end of the game) was rare. Even worse, the game failed as a storytelling medium. Cinema scenes were sparse and most of the plot was reveled in long drawn out conversations over the codec. Little green heads don't emotionally engage.
I wondered for a while why Konami went with the little green head approach, and when I finally got around to playing Final Fantasy X it dawned on me. Here, most dialog is presented in game or in cinema scenes and for the first time the history of the series there are voice actors behind the characters. Unfortunately, when you're watching the scenes the character's gestures seem out of synch with their dialog. I'd bet my old Super Nintendo that the gestures weren't out of synch with the
Japanese dialog in place.
This is a big deal because with a graphics engine that still isn't capable (although it's getting there) of delivering believable human facial expressions in real time, these gestures and the human voices are all we have to work with when forming connections to the characters on screen. (A less realistic, more icon graphical look can help; see Final Fantasy VI and VII)
So the development team is faced with a dilemma. Create a version of each dialog scene for each language, or cue everyone to one and let the others looks like a poorly dubbed kung fu movie. With Metal Gear Solid II Konami tried to get around this by using the codec, and it failed miserably. (if anyone in the game industry is listening, Japanese voices with subtitles. It works for serious anime, it can work for games).
Story based video games work best when they incorporate small features from movies. Grand Theft Auto III did this perfectly. The little cut scenes with the crime bosses were in no way necessary, but they made the game that much more enjoyable.
Yeah, I'm a geek. I know.
Who is your arch-nemesis?
The duo of Ani DiFrance and Scot Fisher for providing real life proof that all young idealists, when given a choice, become tools.
I totally agree with your "loser country" comments. However, being a perfectionist, I have to tell you that it's spelled with one "o" not two. Lose vs. Loose Loser is the correct spelling.
I am a looser proofreader. :)
Do you monitor your Web traffic? What sort of trends to you see? (how many visitors, frequency of visits, etc)
Vaguely. I do about 5MB - 6MB transfer a day, a rather paltry sum in the grand scheme of things. I'm not currently tracking individual visitors, I'm much more interested in the referrer's
What do you think about the war against "terrorism"?
Not enough room for that one. Thought of the moment. It saves those with economic interests tied to the military the trouble of inventing a new war.
What happened to your relationship with your parents?
Nothing happened to it, it was never there to begin with. I spent twenty-three years figuring that out.
Is there a purpose?
Damned if I know.
Favourite colour?
I don't have one as it puts you at risk of being thrown off bridges.
What do you think of the the new Wilco album (yankee hotel foxtrot)?
Haven't heard it.
what is the last ani difranco album you purchased, or obtained?
Purchased would be Up, up, up, up, up, up. Obtained would be Revelling/Reckoning. Up was a pale shadow of a formerly relevant artist, RR was elevator music with needless moping melodrama.
Have you ever had a "paranormal" experience?
No.
Who are your friends in Rochester? Full names and brief descriptions would be appreciated.
Full names cross a delicate website line. I'll give you initials of the real life people. VB, ML, AT, JM, NF
names: if you were a female? a dog? a cat? a star? a car? a tree? a toothpaste? a soda? a beer? a drag queen?

Alan's sugarless toothpaste (read your toothpaste label) |
| a soda? |
Fiz Rot |

Well, according to the classic rules I'd be Clowie Cleveland, but I'm working on something better. |
What about the squirrels?
How about the squirrels?
Have you told your parents that you are a lesbian?
I haven't told them much of anything for the past three years, and I haven't
seen them in over a year.
Guilty pleasures?
Cheese, Trade Paperback Sci-Fi, Latex Dresses. (That last one isn't what half of you think. It
is what the other half is thinking though.)
If you were to write a manifesto, what would the topic or title be?
The Failure of Institutionalized Second and Third Wave Feminist Organizations to Publicly and Honestly Reconcile their Differences
alan,
you say that you hate rochester, and that you're only staying there to pay off your credit cards. if you've been there for 10 yrs already, are unahppy and want to leave, why don't you jsut fucking DO IT?
Because I haven't hated Rochester for all [almost] 10 years, and even now hate is a strong word. Loath, am bored with would be a better description.
More than any animosity I share for Western New York is the pseudo-slavery I endure in order to make my monthly payments. I want to be free to take off and travel the country for a month or two without first having to come up with X amount of dollars *just* to pay the creditors.
Running off and "just fucking doing it" screws my future self, and since I'm going to have to face him one of these days I think I'll stick it out here for a bit longer.
could you love me?
Easily. I probably already do. Now, could I be
in love with you . . . that's another question for another day.
With the greatest of respect, do you ever wonder whether having a form for the entire world to ask you questions is a bit vain?
A little perhaps, but no more vain than having a web page where I blabber on about myself. People clicked on the Bio link because they wanted to know something about me. The form lets them ask exactly what they want to know rather than me trying to guess.
why haven't i met you before?
love and peace,
heidi
Maybe we have, and neither of us knows it.
Do you have a favourite typeface? If so, what is it?
Nope, my knowledge of typefaces is nil. I have almost
no graphic design background, and almost always pick fonts at random until something looks ok. Fortunately, web design doesn't allow for a lot of different fonts, so no one has found me out yet.
do you think librarians are the coolest people ever to exist?
I think librarians (unlike, say, a news anchor) have an unlimited potential of geek cool to draw from. Whether or not they do is up to the individual librarian.
your take on existentialism?
The conversation between Tarrou and Rieux immediately prior to their swim sums up my position rather well.
I live in California. What do you think of it?
I've been to California all of once. The beaches in Santa Cruz were gorgeous, the sprawl in San Jose disgusting, and the tourists in San Francisco (of which I was one) were touristy.
How would you describe your pot-smoking habits, if you smoke it at all?
Since cannabis is an illegal substance in the United States I would never own or smoke any. I do, however, enjoy smoking
garlic.
Well, lets say hypothetically I was to buy a quarter of garlic in August. It could be mid-April of the next year and I'd still have an eighth left. Occasionaly, after or during a particularly hard week garlic will let me temporarily not worry about all the crap that's to come. If people are passing a garlic pipe at a party I'll take a hit or two but that's it.
I think it'd ludicrous that garlic is illegal while alcohol is easily available, but It's not a major party of my so called lifestyle.
How do you feel about people who kill themselves?
Terminal illness, quality of life issues, no problem. Depression . . . I think I'll have to recuse myself from this questions on the grounds I'm still figuring it out.
Which word, that is more than 4 letters, do you say the most
As I don't keep a running count, it's hard to say. I have been quite fond of the word ubiquitous for a few months now.
If you could have one super power, what would it be?
Ability to go back in time and view any event in history without being noticed by the participants.
how cool are you?
That cool.
How does anyone cope, stop grieving for a dead/missing pet? My cat HarryPotter has been gone for a few days and I think he is dead... I miss him so much
I don't know.
What are your ten favorite books?
Off the top of my head in no particular order.
The Stranger
The Plague
Towing Jehovah
Griffin & Sabine Trilogy
The Forgetting Room
Trainspotting
Cat's Cradle
Contact
High Fidelity
Any Transmetropolitan Collection
What's happening with the proposed move to Portland
It's a fucking mess. Because I fell in love with someone in Florida, traveled all over the Northeast for the rock gods and thought starting a freelance business would be a good idea, I now (4/9/2002) have approximately $16,000 in high interest credit card debit. I am not moving anywhere until that's paid off. I'm making progress, but truth be told I'm a little disheartened and feeling trapped at the moment. (this doesn't even include my Car and Student Loan payments which are reasonable and more than reasonable, respectively).
Are you still vegan?
Unfortunately, no. The great vegan experiment ended sometime ago because
1. I'm not a very good cook
2. I like to eat out a lot
2a. I live in Rochester
Basically I was eating really unhealthily while I tried it. I've never gotten out of the college quick meal mentality, and while you can do that and still be veggie, it's impossible to do that and be vegan. So instead I'm concentrating on learning to eat like an *adult* first. When I get the hand of that, I'll cut out the dairy.

No, No a thousand times no. I've sworn off fast food, and that includes token gestures by Burger King and McDonalds. (I'd like to rip apart it's nutritional value as well, but BK has taken all that info off their website for the time being)

Sadly, I didn't know Dismemberment Plan had a latest album. Or any albums. Or were a group.

Why did you go to Utah?
Visiting a friend who landed there this fall. Also, to mock the Mormons.
You haven't updated the kitten log since December. Why?
Primarily because I've adjusted to life with a cat. Secondarily because I've been busy with life and updating all my websites less often. Finally, because full grown felines do less silly things than tiny ones.
hey man...you seem all pissed or melancholy that you wont/cant/shouldnt love ani anymore, and you are probably going to try to spew off some tired bullshit that she has changed lost her edge or married a man (egads) but maybe you should chill and realize that yeah she is changing but im sure you did too (a little process called maturation) and thats probably where the "problem" resides, so take a deep breath and stop acting like the its the end of the world....btw, her shows still rock with or without you
Is there a question in there?
